Milton High School is proud to host the 2010 "Sounds of the South" Drum & Bugle Corps Show on July 29, 2010.
We're very proud to support our Mighty Black & Gold band ...
it's one of the best in our area.
The purpose of the MHS Band Boosters organization is to provide financial and volunteer assistance to meet the needs identified by the band director, Mr. Gray Weaver. And to support all aspects of the "Mighty Black and Gold" band programs at Milton High School, in Milton, FL. The "Mighty Black and Gold" band program is comprised of seven ensembles, the seven ensembles are the Marching Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Ceremonial Band, WinterGuard, and Indoor Percussion. Mr. Gray Weaver has directed the "Mighty Black and Gold" for over fifteen years receiving continuous Superior ratings on the local, state and national levels including Milton High School's first ever State FBA overall Superior rating for the Symphonic band.it's one of the best in our area.
Here are some of the activities of the Band Booster Organization:
- Supporting the band by encouraging families to attend events.
- Communications. We try to keep parents informed about band and booster activities.
- Food. We provide snacks, drinks, and meals for the band on many, many occasions.
- Fundraising. An active, high quality band program is expensive. We raise money to help pay expenses.
- Sewing. Band and colorguard uniforms need to be fitted! (and repaired, etc.).
- More sewing. All of the color guard flags must be sewn and mounted on poles.
- Acknowledging the hard work of the band staff.
- We help make band travel arrangements (bus, hotel, etc.). We provide directions so families can attend competitions. We also help arrange chaperones for these trips.
- Photos and videos. We collect and display band photos, and produce a year end video at modest cost.
- Fun events. We coordinate fun activities (pool party, dinners, etc.) for band members and band families.
In the past couple of years, we've been able to fund the purchase of new instruments and new uniforms. This is a tremendous undertaking made possible by the dedicated efforts of our active members.
We're very proud of Mr. Weaver and our Mighty Black & Gold band and we hope you'll share in our enthusiasm to support the various needs of the band.
